Problem Chess Links

This website is the result of private work by Hannu Harkola, the 1st Vice-President of the PCCC. It contains among other things information about the PCCC and its meetings and competitions together with information about FIDE-albums and rules about the award of titles.

Suomen Tehtävänienkat, The Finnish Chess Problem Society (ST) is a member of the Finnish Central Chess Federation. It has more than 100 Finnish members. This is a summary in English of its homepage. You can also access the home page (in Finnish).

"The Chess Variant Pages feature rules of hundreds of chess variants (...), computer programs that play chess or chess variants, A True Type chess font, hundreds of hyperlinks to WWW-pages on chess, chess variants, and other things, chess variant problems and puzzles, a competition, announcements, and more." Good and interesting site on variant chess where a number of common fairy conditions and pieces can be found.

Good and ambitious site of interest for every retro-fan. Philippe Schnoebelen writes:
"I'd like this page to be a repository where all retro-enthusiasts can find easy access to material pertaining to Retrograde Analysis... I started this in April 1995. I am a chess player & casual retro-problems solver who finds it difficult to get access to current problems. They are quite scarce. A magazine with a retro column only publishes a few problems."

Mario Velucchi has collected a number of problem chess related links, which he shares, together with a "Small Entertaining Selection of my original Chess Problems, Puzzles ... Papers"

Some good, personal pages containing among other things "Helpmates and fairy chess problems from all over the world... Announcements of chess composing tourneys (formal, informal, theme tourneys etc... A list of regular local problem circles and forthcoming major problem chess events..."

A varied site containing

Basically a good site with some both some really good problems and e.g. definitions of some new fairy themes. Unfortunately the site seems to have been abandoned.

Good and ambitious, rather varied site on problem chess and heterodox chess. (Unfortunately, for some of us, it is in Italian!).

Kenneth Solja's site with information on previous World Championships for Solving and World Chess Composition Tournament of the FIDE

by Don French. Not a pure chess problem site (not even a pure chess site) but rather a site on both chess problems and computer programming. Still a rather interesting site with some enjoyable chess compositions.
